Concerns of people who are experiencing family re-organization may include changes in family structure, re-building relationships. Various feelings such as anger, depression, relief, resentment, guilt, intense loneliness, and loss can occur.
Our Minimum Qualifications for our Counsellors is that they have their Masters in Psychology or equivalent (or are working on it). Most of them then go on to get their:
· RCC (Registered Clinical Counsellor) and, or
· CCC (Canadian Certified Counsellor)
They are not Psychologists(Registered or otherwise) or Psychiatrists.

Individual Counselling
Whether you are thinking about separating, or already separated, we can help. The support offered can be short-term or ongoing in a format that suits the needs of each person.
We are unable to offer couples counselling at this time
Schedule
To access counselling:
- Please contract the office at 250-386-4331. Our Intake Coordinator will do a pre-counselling intake (She is normally available Mondays and Fridays)
- Once a counsellor has been assigned, the sliding-scale fee applies at this point
- meant to be weekly sessions,
- for 1 hour at the given time,
(if you need more than 1 hour - please talk to your counsellor beforehand - an extra charge may apply) - occur during regular office hours.
Fees
Counselling services are on a sliding scale. Some things to consider:
- Benefits Package: Please check with your provider to see if your payments can be covered. (It is your responsibility to submit receipts to your provider for reimbursement - Family Services of Greater Victoria is does not do direct billing).
- Ministry, CVAP, etc: If you are involved with any of these organizations – please check to see if they can cover payments. You may have to cover payment of sessions until you are approved.
- $30/session* if your annual household income is Below $40,000*
- Essentially 0.1% of your household income (Rounded down to the nearest $10,000) starting at $30 per session
-$40,000 - $40/session, $50,000 -$50/session, etc. - If your extended health plan is able to cover the sessions - then the fee would be $130/session
* Reduced fees are available by special application.
